On the 1st Feruary, 2003 we
collected the total stock of Norton and Triumph spares of
Günter Lang/Motorradcenter Dreispitz. Their inventory was
amassed over a number of years and then practically "forgotten"
for the last decade. It must be more than ten years ago now
that I last set my eyes on Norton Commando parts still in
"Norton Motors Ltd, Shenstone"-bags. As well as the
good old blue/green "Vanderwell" plain bearing
boxes, or even goods in "Wassell/Burntwood" packing-
Wassell in Burntwood went broke in the early Eighties of the
last century (I know- I was there the very day the receivers
came in, and bought goods off the receivers!).
According to the stocklist, the retail value of the stock
is in the region of 200.000 Euro.

To load the
goods took four men two hours, even though everything
was already boxed up and just had to be loaded into the
van. To get it all out took up to three men four hours.
Our premises are currently chaos, and it will take weeks
to sort it all. As Günter stored new and secondhand
parts together, as well as the fact everything was boxed
to be transferred, the sorting will be a
labour-intensive and longwinded affair. Unfortunately, I
remembered to take a photo when the van was already half
empty. I will try to take a photo of the now completely
blocked stores, to give an impression of what we have
taken on... |
Whilst loading I realized many
of the parts have not been available for years now. The
legendary Lucas handlebar switches are there, as are original
instruments, pistons, DOT-suspension units, Triumph TSX
silencers, TR65 silencers in black chrome, Harris-Triumph
silencers and front fork parts, etc.etc. We will endeavour to
publish a list as soon as possible with the finds we made as
well as special offers of parts we have in ridiculous
quantities- there is quite a few of those!
In future our customers will have even more reason to
find that it is practically impossible to want a part we do
not have in stock- not that they have found it easy so far!

O.K., so it
does not look like much, but it is not the whole package,
and in that are:
- about 120 silencers
- about 600 Triumph clutch friction plates
- about 200 indicators
- about a dozen cylinder barrels
- about 300 bowden cables
- about 40 mudguards
- crankcases, cylinder heads, racing parts, custom parts,
unidentified parts etc, etc............. |
