| The Norton
Combat |
|
The Norton "Combat"
was based on the proven Norton "International".
Whilst
the "International", playing on styling
elements of Norton's past, built a bridge to
Norton's history and tried out the
concept, the "Combat" was the Norton
for the 21st century- modern, aggressive, light
and nimble. The first streetfighter not just for show, but with a bit of engine
tuning (it can be brought up to about
85bhp) the "Combat" can be entered at any level of
racing due to its superb chassis.
Though hailed by press and prospective
customers alike, the project was
stillborn as the original instigators-
Norton Motorcycles International,
Inc.- went bankrupt before the project
was finished, even though it was done
within 120 days, and no partner for
the production of this motorcycle in
economically feasable quantities could
be found.

The
Norton Combat remains a prototype that, unfortunately, will
never go into production due to our
sale of the Norton Trademark to Norton
Motorsports, America. We are open for
offers, however, if a third party
wants to take up the concept.
